Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is Synth-Rock with a pop and soul twist.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Prince is my fairy godfather in my heart. I went to a concert of his and Janelle Monae and it was the first time that I discovered that gospel music could be found in rock n’ roll. His music connected people to a higher power and to each other. That concert changed my life! Afterwards, I decided to transition from gospel to rock. I hope to touch people in that same way with my music as Prince did.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Say Hey 2 You.”

A) I fell in love with a stylist in Brooklyn. She taught me a lot about finding the beauty in the flaws and pain that sometimes occur in life. I knew that I was maturing when I wrote this song. It was actually a love letter that grew into a song.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) It’s real and honest. I’m saying that your body might be perfect, but that’s not what I’m after. I want to fall in love with who you truly are, imperfections and all. Let me make love to the inner you without the filter of your body. Really loving someone means you have to love yourself first. When you love yourself, your heart connects with that special someone in a mature way. You are saying “’Hey!’ Here I am!!!” Take me and love me for who I am!

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

It’s simple right now; it is all about the album art and the music. For now, the lyric video says everything; it’s just me naked on my bed, surrounded by my spiritual objects. I am naked, exposed, authentic… see me… listen to my song… get to know me. I haven’t created an official video for the song yet. I’m envisioning something live.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Each song is a little different. For this song, I wrote the words first, then the lyrics and then the notes for the instrumentation. I wasn’t trying to write a song, but a letter to her expressing my feelings.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I have my hand in every detail. I write, arrange and co-produce everything; from the lyrics to the background vocals, it all comes from me.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Sterling Infinity performance?

A) I’m always going to sing from my heart. I give my all every time I sing because it could be my last and my fans deserve my very best. I studied theater, so my shows will surprise and entertain people. I plan for the shows to be epic and a must see.

Q) What songs off your upcoming Sterling Infinity (Deluxe) album are you looking forward to performing live?

A) I definitely can’t wait to perform “Put Me In Your Mouth.” It is my favorite song to perform live and it is so much fun! The song is deeper than sex for me and like all of my love songs, it’s based on a true love story.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new album as a whole?

A) I put my heart and soul into this album. I hope that it makes people feel good about themselves and their lives and that they find life in it and through it. I hope that they like it so much that they share it with their friends and family.

Q) How do you plan to celebrate the album’s release on July 20th?

A) I am planning a small party with family and friends. Then I’m going right back into promotion mode!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) My two favorite places would have to be Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. There is nothing more beautiful than when all different types of races, sexes and ages come together for music. It’s a humbling experience. As a performer, those stages are sacred given all the great performers who have performed there. There is nothing like performing to a large crowd and hearing the roar of their applause in those hallowed halls. There is nothing like it! As a singer, I live to perform. I am looking forward to returning to those two venues. This time not as a gospel singer, but as a rock singer. I want to slay those venues again!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Steven Tyler! I would love to make a spiritual song with him on the next project. I would also love to sing with P!nk! There are also other singers that I would love to sing with, but those two I would love to sing with sooner rather than later.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Right now, I’m really into The Rolling Stones. I love how they tell stories with their notes. I’m also really into P-Funk right now, they have inspired my shows.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I love social media because it allows me to make friends with people around the world. There is a special magic about social media, a closeness and an ability to interact with people directly, whereas before it would really have been impossible. I really care about my fans. I call them my “Infinite Ones.” We live life bravely and try each day to do our best and be at our best. I am trying to create an online community where we care for each other and support each other through this thing (as Prince said it) “that we call life.”

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for all of your love and support. I have so many wonderful things planned that I can’t wait to share with you. I am counting the days until I come into your town and perform live for you.
